Would you place an advertisement on your vehicle in order to save money on the cost of driving? With the cost of being a motorist climbing ever-higher in the UK, people who drive are seriously thinking about ways to offset the costs of owning a vehicle. Money4Space offers an advertising solution which gives drivers a monthly payment for placing ads on their personal vehicles. The driver earns some money for the driving that he would be doing anyway and businesses can gain much-needed advertising around town; it’s a win-win situation.

History of Money4Space

Money4Space is a division of Lion Media UK Ltd. that was launched last year in Nottingham. The developers of the company saw a need in the market for more vehicle-based advertising. This type of advertising has been shown to be more effective than almost any other type of advertising in terms of direct sale results based on the ads. More importantly for advertisers, vehicle-based ads tend to be highly cost-effective in comparison with other methods of advertising. Businesses were seeing that placing their ads on cars could be a great method of advertising since the cost to do so was low but the results were high.

However, not all businesses had been able to use this method of advertising in the past. That is because vehicle-based advertising has traditionally required that businesses have their own fleet of cars which the ads are placed on. Money4Space saw a niche in the market where drivers could provide their own vehicles for these ads. This allows advertisers to take advantage of the great marketing opportunity and it also gives drivers a chance to earn extra money for driving that they are already doing anyway.

A Little Bit More About Vehicle-Based Advertising

Why is it that vehicle-based advertising is so cost-effective and yet so successful? Here are some of the reasons:

• This advertising tends to be at eye-level. Many people don’t bother to look at billboards and other signage but you can’t really miss signs that are located on a car that is driving past you since you’re going to naturally look at the car anyway.
• These types of ads are really low-maintenance. You don’t have to do much to make these ads look good over time so you don’t spend money on continuing to run the ad or re-print it.
• Modern technology makes people likely to follow up on these ads. Imagine that you’re sitting in traffic and the car in front of you has an ad that catches your eye. You can easily enter the website on the ad into your mobile phone to check out the details. This results in more sales than you might find from other forms of advertising.
• There is variety and flexibility in location. A billboard doesn’t move so the people that see it are the people who drive that same route every day. In contrast, a car moves. This means that the ad is constantly being shown off to new eyes which results in better advertising than static ads.

People Need to Save Money on Driving

The recession has caused everyone to re-think driving because it can be so expensive. Costs of driving have risen considerably in the UK over the years. Areas of spending on cars that have gone up recently include gas, road taxes, parking, insurance and fines. There are also increases expected for showroom taxes and for congestion charges in the near future. Combined with the downturn of the economy, this has created a situation in which drivers are finding it increasingly problematic to own and drive a car. However, modern life requires most people in the UK to drive at least part of the time. Drivers are finding that the option to advertise on their cars makes driving more affordable. As a result, Money4Space has seen an increase in the number of applications from drivers for their program in recent months.

There are Some Basic Requirements

It’s fairly easy to be involved in this program and to earn some money for your driving as an advertiser but it’s not just about sticking a label on your car and never thinking about it again. Here are some of the requirements that you should be aware of if you’re thinking about earning some money through this type of program:

• You have to drive at least 500 miles per month. Advertisers want to make sure that the car they’re advertising on is actually out there on the roads so you’ll be required to do monthly check-ins to show that you are meeting your mileage requirements.
• You have to drive responsibly. No business wants their ad to be placed on a car that is driven recklessly or that gets regularly ticketed. You have to be professional in your car as a contractor who is advertising someone else’s business.
• You have to keep your car relatively clean. This is for the same reason that you have to drive responsibly. After all, you wouldn’t want your business to be advertised on a filthy car.
• You are encouraged to park in highly visible areas. Most of the success of vehicle-based advertising comes from the time when the car is parked so you may need to park out of your way to offer the best advertising in some locations.
• You have to meet some basic minimum requirements in terms of your driving age, car insurance, etc.

As you can see, none of these things is particularly difficult for the average driver. You’re essentially earning money for doing things with your car that you would be doing anyway.

This Solution Makes Sense in Today’s Economy

This type of vehicle-based advertising makes perfect sense in today’s economy. Advertisers can cut their costs by going with an advertising solution that is not only cheap but also effective. At the same time, drivers can earn money for their time in the car which means that they don’t have to stress out quite as much about the cost of driving. This type of mutual support within a community that benefits both businesses and individuals is exactly the kind of thing that we need right now to allow the economy to bounce back.

Interesting concept. I wonder if the general British public are too conservative to embrace this idea?
