Online Coupon Use Increased Nearly 200% in March

Online promotional coupon code use is on the rise due to a combination of increased media attention to discount codes and the need to reduce spending caused by the recession. One online coupon code site reported an increase of nearly 200% in activity during the month of March and there are no signs that this activity is going to slow down anytime soon.

That drive to save money is seriously impacting the economy in the coupon code business. Several sites have reported receiving over five million unique visitors each per month. Leading sites are seeing monthly coupon values of $57 million being saved by their customers. So what is it that these people are buying? Cereal, baby products, baking ingredients, diet products and yogurt are the top five products purchased using online coupons. Notably, better savings may be available at sites other than the leading sites so it’s important to shop around to get good discount codes.

Research in the industry indicates that promo codes sites are the second most popular type of site online today. Only employment sites are more popular than voucher code sites, a fact which shows just how important saving and earning money are to people who are searching online for information today.
